When he sees the sun rise from his Mississippi River bluff home in Carondelet, Tim Dorsey knows that the same sun will soon be powering his small business in Soulard.
In April, Dorsey installed a 25 kilowatt solar-energy system on the roof of the building that houses his business, MA Tech Services at 1920 South Broadway. The system generates enough energy each year to offset the company’s electricity usage. The solar-panel system was designed by local clean-energy company Brightergy.
“I’ve been a long-time solar proponent and my wife, Marcia, and I installed solar energy for our grandkids, to help leave a better world for them,” Dorsey said. “The financial benefit of keeping the heat off of our roof, making the building cool easier, was also important.”
