One of the most significant advantages of solar energy is that the systems have so few parts. Fewer parts means less can go wrong, and it costs less to maintain over the years. For most systems, there are three basic parts:
- Solar Panels: These capture the energy of the sun.
- Inverter: This piece converts solar energy into electrical power.
- Racking: This is the foundation that mounts the system to the roof or ground.
The only common maintenance costs you can expect with a solar energy system are cleaning off the panels once or twice a year and the occasional replacement of an inverter that has worn out after years of use.
