Controller- Kansas City
Position: Controller- Kansas City
Brightergy is a fast growing full service solar installation company with offices in Kansas City, St Louis, and Boston. We are a leader in designing, installing, monitoring and financing solar power systems. We are looking for a hands-on Controller to take over accounting and financial reporting responsibilities, but also grow the department, implement new policies and procedures and lead and mentor accounting/finance staff. There will initially be two direct reports and the Controller will report to the CFO.
The ideal candidate is an extremely motivated, technically strong CPA, with prior experience in a results-driven environment at a controller or manager level. Ideally the candidate will have 8-12 years of relevant experience, prior experience in construction accounting and excellent team leading skills.
-Lead, mentor, grow and manage team of accounting/finance professionals. There will initially be 2 direct reports
-Implement new policies and procedures, streamline current reporting procedures and generally work to increase efficiency throughout department.
-Prepare, analyze and review monthly / quarterly financial statements. Prepare monthly cash flow projections
-Sales commission oversight
-Advise on long-term strategic planning and educate senior management on financial implications around organizations decisions
-Oversee all accounting functions and ensure proper documentation of accounting processes
-File quarterly sales & use tax payments
-Work directly with all departments throughout organization to put together budgets
-Maintain existing banking relationships and various lines of credit
- Monitors delinquent A/R
- Books necessary journal entries on monthly basis
- Maintain all company operating, payroll, savings accounts, lines of credit, and investment banking accounts including deposits, disbursements and balancing
-Maintain employees Personnel files including all tax forms, Insurance Records, 401K records, Flexteria Application, Employment and Drug Test Records.
Qualifications:
-Bachelors Accounting
-MBA or CPA
-8-15 years related experience
-Management experience required
-Construction experience/software experience preferred
-Process improvement experience
-Ability to multi-task
- Strong knowledge of ERP accounting systems and Excel
- Experience in Microsft Dynamics GP (formerly Great Plains) accounting system preferred
